The Food Experiment

Two days ago, I started a little experiment. I call it an experiment, because I don’t want it to be confused with a diet. Diets are awful things that made you feel deprived, and usually cause you to fall back to old habits. At least for me anyways….  Recently, I have been eating very poorly….to the point where I knew I needed to take action and start treating my body better.

So, I decided instead to have a Food Experiment. What will happen to my health, and to my body, if I choose the healthlier eating alternative? During this experiment, I have to:

Limit myself to 1 soda/pop a day

Always eat breakfast

Get rid of any food with obvious preservatives/artificial ingredients

Not snack in the evenings

Only snack during the day with healthy options

Does this sound like a diet to you? Maybe to some, yes…but to me, it’s all about trying to create a healthier life for myself. I’m trying to follow my instinct and what I crave, instead of what I want. This doesn’t mean that I can’t eat foods that I want, I just have to make better choices with it. But, at least for this month, no junk food whatsoever. I want to see the maximum results from this experiment, and see where it leads me.

For example, today was Fajita night at the house. I LOVE my mom’s Fajitas. However, instead of having my fajita with a ton of tortilla chips and beans….I only ate the beans. If I was desperately craving chips, I would have had some, but I realized I could live without them, so I passed. This was a much healthier choice!

The night before, I had a delicious cheeseburger. However, instead of eating it with fried potatoes, I had it with corn on the cob and a spinach salad. It was very satisfying, and in the end, a much healthier option. For a snack during the afternoon, I ate an avocado…one of my favorite foods, yet very nutricious and full of protein.

See where I am getting now? Eating quality foods, that not only taste great, but help my body. Weight I’ve lost so far? 2 pounds.
